The Desire to Make a Difference by Wendy Kopp

In 1989, as a senior at Princeton University, Teach For America CEO and Founder Wendy Kopp was a public policy major concerned about inequity in American education. Her idea for Teach For America was born from a desire to right these injustices, and realizing classmates searching to make a difference in the world were all around her.

Wendy Kopp is the chief executive officer and founder of Teach For America, whose mission is to build the movement to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting the nation’s most promising future leaders in the effort. She is also chief executive officer and co-founder of Teach For All, which is working to accelerate and increase the impact of this model around the world.
